ENERGY SAVING AND CARBON EMISSION REDUCTION

The Building industry is the largest energy consumer in the world economy compared to similarly energy-intensive sectors, such as transport or industry. It is responsible for approximately 30% of global carbon emission, and more than 40% of the total primary energy consumed in many countries arises from building construction, building operation, maintenance, and management field. For this reason, the building sector is in high demand of sustainable solutions in terms of economic, environmental, and social aspects. To meet the sustainability targets towards the Net Zero or Positive Energy Buildings, there is a need for continuing development of new integrated building and system concepts, technologies, and materials that can further improve the energy efficiency and flexibility of buildings, and the potential of reducing GHG emission while simultaneously maintaining high levels of indoor environmental quality of building occupants.
